This collage is a metaphor for me. It consists of many great masters’ artworks that seemingly represent a sort of admiration. However, in fact, it is self-criticism and a warning, which signifies the commencement of my new path, the way of innovation, far from a mimic. Also, it can be understood as recollections since I have been imprisoned by the past painters and traditional art, great influences. The gross face is full of Freud’s brushwork. The eyes are blocked solidly by van Gogh’s eyes, making me blind. Then, the ears are covered by his sunflowers as well, causing me deafness. The window, furniture…...even the father who is staring at me belongs to Gauguin’s work………
